Bakelite is one of the first plastics and it is made of synthetic components. It was invented by the Belgian Leo Hendrik Baekeland (1863-1944).
Baekeland got a patent for Bakelite on 7 December 1909.
Bakelite is known for its typical, mixed colours and its nice surface that is warm to the touch.
